The rooms

Five rooms recorded with precision.

We set up speakers and microphones in five real spaces and recorded how each one responds: GOLDBAND, SNELBAND, RENOBAND, ROTBAND and MARAZZI.

Filters and EQ

Filters and EQ.

The low and high cuts sit before the reverb. After it, four EQ bands cover 40 Hz to 22 kHz, and the lowest and highest switch between shelf and bell. Every band has gain, frequency and Q.

Saturation and mod

Saturation and modulation.

Saturation has two characters on one knob. Gentle thickens the low mids, around 200 to 700 Hz. Crushing is a locked-output limiter in the manner of the Shure Level-Loc: driven harder, it clamps and darkens instead of getting louder.

Mod is a Chorus or a Tremolo modelled on the optical tremolo of a blackface Fender amp. Neither changes the output level.

Fahrenbad Plugin Shell

Every room has a preset. You can save your own, compare two settings with A/B, and set input, output and mix from the bar at the bottom.

GipsPlate comes as VST3, AU, AAX and standalone.

True stereo

Stereo stays stereo.

Each room is recorded as four impulse responses. GipsPlate never cheats and runs all four on every audio block, so left and right keep their own place in the room.

  • 4 convolutions on every block
  • <35ms latency
  • Works with stereo or mono in, stereo out

Decay

Decay from 0.5x to 8x.

Decay reshapes how each part of the spectrum fades, one band at a time, and leaves the room's timbre alone. It works the same way in every room.

Measured with sustained pink noise, the level stays within 1 dB across the whole range. Past 1.5x the tail continues seamlessly, up to 30 seconds.

  • 0.5x to 8x, in every room
  • Level stays within 1 dB
  • Renders in the background
